I am a Christian by the faithful obedience and tenderness of Christ, a Baptist by conviction, and I teach theology, informal logic and philosophy. I am also a writer of humble means. I’ve published a few articles and am working on a larger book project as well as fashioning a curriculum for our two homeschooled daughters. I’ve become, by the provision and kindness of GOD and His people, centrally involved in the workings of our beloved local assembly of brothers and sisters in Christ and in support of our precious pastor who is both a shepherd and a friend. I take great pleasure from this aspect of my life, and in pursuit of an inward calling to serve the church, I have begun studying through and writing commentary on the books of the Bible. In my free time, I am broadly involved in research, working out a new kind of catechism for children, conducting family devotions and private studies in Scripture with Sasha, pursuing further options in higher education and trying to keep up with this blog. All the zeal of my life’s endeavors demand, just as the life of every Christian necessitates, a deep yearning for Christ in prayer and a consistently enriching dialogue with Him in Scripture. I lean upon the graceful warmth of my maiden’s love. She is the best of friends. I am also a father of two exquisitely precious daughters, a son-that-is-coming, and I continue to stand as a minor shepherd to my “little flock,” pointing away toward yonder shining light where dwells One who, unlike me, is eternally worthy…

I currently teach English as a Second Language at the University of Oklahoma where I earned my M.A. in German and studied the nature of language. My days consist of wandering between books, classrooms, study and/or tutoring sessions, fiddling with ideas and trying to make time to be with my own family in the quiet of my home. I try to balance my work at the university and my work at home with my family, and I depend a great deal upon Benjamin for more than I could name here. Through all my studies, I seek to better understand the creative work of God in the world and our relationship with Him.
Benjamin,
I found a link to your blog on my site. Very nice. I was warmed to read the brief and humble description of you and the family with whom God has blessed you. I pray that he will fulfill the desire of your heart to know him more deeply and serve him more fervently. May you and your wife grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and do great exploits for the kingdom!
Sincerely yours,
Bob Gonzales
Thank you, Dr. Gonzales, you are most gracious, and thank you for stopping by. May GOD, our Father, be praised forever for having chosen you as a precious gift for His Son, and I pray that the testimony of your faith will inspire His people, inscribed forever in the halls of the blessed.
